Washington News’ List of Best Civil War Films

Glory, the 1989 Oscar winning epic starring Matthew Broderick and Denzel Washington, tells the story of the 54th Massachusetts Regiment, one of the first all black army units of the Civil War. This film, along with 14 others, made the Washington News’ list of best movies about the war between the states.

The American newspaper The Washington News published a list of the 15 best U.S. Civil War movies of all time this weekend. It includes flicks from the silent era right up to the present. Check out their favourites at:

  1. I have just subscribed to your military history site. It is most thorough & informative. While this is a ? for the moment, I hope someone out there might know, & pass on an answer to me. While listen to WBAI, a listener supp. starion in NYC, there was a program by a man named Tom Whisker. H always played some music he exp. was from a group of songs called “In Country” Does anyone know it? Where could I find it? Thank you.
